OIL FROM SHALE.
THE OREPUKI DEPOSITS. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) WELLINGTON, this day. Though there is nothing to warrant a definite statement that Orepuki shale works, now idle, will be restarted, it is significant of renewed interest in this industry that the Minister of Mines, the Hon. W. A. Yeitch, will leave Wellington to-morrow evening for the special purpose of inspecting the Orepuki deposit, and the general conditions under which it was formerly operated. He will stay at Dunedin on his way south, and will also spend next Sunday in Dunedin.
