UNION'S GRIEVANCE
MISSTATEMENTS ALLEGED. ' TRANSPORT MANAGER UPHELD. A request made by the Auckland Tramways and Municipal Bus Employees' Union to the Auckland Transport Board to-day was described by the chairman. Mr. George Baildon. as being in the nature of an .encroachment on the manager's prerogative. The union asked that a deputation of three members be received to place before the board the methods employed by the management in respect of two cases taken up by the union in connection with reports submitted by inspectors. It was alleged by the union that the reports submitted by the inspectors in question contained misstatements, and. although the union had repeatedly asked for the completion of an inquiry commenced in one of the cases and for an inquiry to be made in the other case, the management kept putting the matters off. The allegations of misstatements by inspectors, the union contended, should be treated seriously and given every consideration i by the management. i Mr. Baildon said the manager and his; staff had given the men every facility! in stating their case. j It was decided that a reply be sent explaining that the matters set out in i the letter were in the hands of the manager, and were being dealt with on; the board's behalf.
