THEFTS BY TWO MEN.
GRAMOPHONE AND CLOTHING,
• Two men, Jack Edmund Maley (24)' a seaman, and Frank Norman].MerrunYn (2S), a; labourer, answered charges of stealing a portable gramophone and a suit, a coat and a pair of shoes, valued \[ £20. the property of Henry Courtney, in the Police Court this morning. .
The men were picked up by two others ■ and; after having some liquor, went to tor. at a bach in Parnell, 'srvl Chief Detective Hammond. In the absence of their acquaintances tllcy took the gratriophone and the clothing. They had had no opportunity of selling them.
They were remanded .fqc'a wee!; for sentence, a report to be obtained from the probation officer. "I don't want to start them off going to gaol if I can help it," said Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M.,
