NOT SUFFICIENT METAL.
KAIKOHE-WAIMATENUI ROAD.
CONCERN IN HOBSON COUNTY,
(By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) DARGAVILLE, Friday.
"The. Public Works Department is constructing a very fine road between Kaikohe and Waimatenui," said Mr. Carpenter at a meeting of the Hobson County Council. "The question which is agitating settlers is whether metal is coming along quickly enough."
Mr. Carpenter added that last year the Department, with relief workers, constructed a good road, and the settlers would have been content had metal been spread on that formation. TJiis .summer, however, relief workers were how widening" out the clay formation. It did not seem, however, that it would be possible for metalling to be completed before tlie. .weather broke.
