TIMARU WOOL SALE. SPIRITED COMPETITION. EIGHTY PER CEXT SOLD. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) TIMARTJ, Friday. Tie second South Canterbury wool sal of the season -was held this afternoon when 14,439 bales were offered, compare; ■with 22,470 bales. at the corrcspondini sale last year. The decrease in the oiler ing may be attributed to wet weatlie delaying shearing and to ' some growcri holding wool in the meantime in conse quence of the state of the market. Generally speaking, the offering was no up to the usual standard, the unseasonabli weather resulting in a big proportion o the wool being tender. Super_lots weri really few and far between. There Ava< a full bench of buyers, who biddec Spiritedly, but did not appear .prepared t< exceed the limits. . Compared with the Dunedin sale 01 Wednesday prices for Merino were < roennv- dearer, halfbreds were a haltpennj to three-farthings dearer and three-quar.tei and crossbreds a halfpenny dearer.
