AUCKLAND'S BOULEVARD.

ROAD TO ST. HELIER'S POHUTUKAWAS TO BE PLANTED. The City Council proposes planting the seaward of the road along the waterfront to Orakei with , pohutukawa trees. The Council is trying to secure enough of these trees to plant the whole length of the new roadway. Right on the waterfront the trees should succeed well and in seven to eight years ought to be starting to flower. The Mayor, Mr. George Baildon, with the city engineer, Mr. James Tyler, yesterday inspected the work on the waterfront rottd which will link the eastern end of Kohimarama Bay with the western end of the bay at St. Helier's. It-is thought this road will be completed in about three months. It will eventually be possible for the residents of St. Helier's to travel to the city by a road skirting the water edge practically the whole distance. Ali the filling is practically completed on the road which is to go round Gower's Point. Filling in is about finished, and the ballasting and blinding is in progress. A stone parapet is being built on the seaward side, and similar work is being carried out in front of the reserve at Kohimarama in preparation . for the road that is to be made there.
