NEW ZEALAND TOUR. - British Farmers Farewelled At London. HOPES PROM VISIT. (United P.A.—Electric Telegraph-Copyright) (Received 11.30 a.m.) LONDON, January 17. Sixty-one British National Union farmers, fifteen being accompanied by their wives, left Waterloo to embark by the Remuera for New Zealand. They were farewelled by Lord Bledisloe, Governor-General-designate of the Dominion, and Mr. T. M. Wilford, K.C., High Commissioner for New Zealand. The leader of the party, Sir Edward Whitley, said: "We have the keenest anticipation of a fruitful mission. We are going to learn and exchange opinions j and to see if we can assist Empire farming, which, from the British standpoint, j needs bucking up. It is really like, going to visit relations." Lord Bledisloe said that he trusted the delegation would investigate the possibility of obtaining from New Zealand the*best strains of grass eeed for use here, instead of the large proportion obtained from foreigners. \ Mr. Wilford's farewell, while shaking hands with Sir Whitley, was: "Go and seo how New Zealand transforms the so-called worthless lands into rich pastures. It will be an eye-opener."
