THE MOUNT EDEN RESERVOIR.
x I was interested to read a comment on the ugliness of tie new reservoir-that obtrudes itself on Mount Eden. Why should this exposed part be finished in concrete, to be an eyesore always on a beautiful landscape ? There is at least one reservoir on a hill reserve in Auckland that is built of brick and is not an offence to the eye; why did not the City Council build a similar style on Mount Eden? And did the Mount Eden Borough Council not object to the ugliness of concrete? Creepers can be used to soften the harshness, but that does not alter the fact that a structure of this kind has been stuck up in one of our chief beauty spots. There is much talk of towni planning, but when are its principles going toji be- allied EDENITE.
