AILING CHILDREN.

Sunshine and fresh air off the sea is being enjoyed at Wailieke Island hy a number of Auckland children whose health wants toning up. The house was placed at the disposal of the Community Sunshine Association .by Mr. and Mrs. ip. Arnoldson, and the camp is being supervised by Mrs. N. E. Ferner, president -of y tlie Association.' There are two Health Department ' nurses and medical attention is available. The camp is really, part and .parcel of the work , connected with" the Sunshine School in Nelson Street. The idea is to get hold of weak or ailing children from the poorer quarters, especially those prone to tuberculosis, or.' similar complaints, and by diet, proper attention, fresh ail*, and plenty of sunshine, 1 so to build up the child's strength that it will have a fair chance of spending a happy life instead of being a burden to itself and everyone around it. Mrs. FernerliasL received* wonderful ■ support in fitting .up the, house at Waiheke. , Residents' oi Ostend. helped in getting things in order, a number of students from the Training College dug out foundations for a dining room, Auckland' merchants gave stores, and the Northern Company and Messrs. Bradney and Binns conveyed stofes and children to the island free of charge. A '
