When a "Sunday Chronicle", representative told a housewife in Surbiton that a Swedish statistician had estimated that the average woman'spends 7000 hours of her life in front of 'her mirror he was told: "If that Swedish fellow had > as much to do as the majority of housewives he would not be able to spend his time on such silly subjects. Tell him," the housewife added, "that men spend more itime looking into ithe mirrors than women. My husband is always trimming his moustache or shaving. And he has a jolly good look at himself while he does it!" A London typist looked guilty when she was told. After a few minutes' thought, she said, "Well, perhaps when you think of all the times I have powdered my nose the Swede may be right. Still, if men find .pleasure in looking at my face there is no reason why I should not have a good look at it, too!"
