ACTOR AND ATHLETE.

DEATH OF NORMAN TREVOR. A REMARKABLE CAREER. A brilliant career on tlie stage and screen and a reputation of pronounced athletic ability as a young man stood to the credit of Norman Trevor, who, at tha comparatively early age of 52 years, died in *a Californian asylum about eight weeks ago. Born in Calcutta, he received his education at St. Xavier's College, later entering the jute trade. He was the champion all-round athlete of India from 1893 to 1900, being a member of the British Olympic team in Paris in the latter year. He possessed a wonderful display of trophies for a young man. It was soon after this that he found his feet in the show world and quickly established himself as a fine actor. Appearing first at the Apollo Theatre in London in 1907, he attracted attention in the next few years as lead with the Play Actors, then touring England with his own company in Shakespearean and modern plays. Later he was manager of the Savoy Theatre, where he produced, several good plays, including "A Cardinal's Romance." He was subsequently at the Ambassadors, playing "Anna'Mvarenina," and in 1913 he went to America. He was a favourite at the Playhous# and Garrick Theatre, New York, in wonderful series of performances. In 1924 he took up roles in silent pictures and will be remembered by cinema patrons in such films a"s "The Foreign Legion," "Wages of Virtue," "The Song and Dance Man," "The Music Mauter" and "Sorrell and Son." For the last production he went to England with his great friend, H. B. Warner, about three years ago. Mr. Trevor, who leaves a daughter in New York, was separated from his wife, who is believed to b« residing in India.
