ROTORUA NOTES.

Miss Blanche Worsp, of Auckland, is on a visit to Rotorua, and is a guest at Grand? Yue.. Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Adams and Miss Molly Adams, who have been visiting Gisborne and Rotorua, have returned to their home at the Thames. Sister E. J. Harris, divisional commis'sioner of the Rotorua Girl Guides, ia attending the Dominion Girl Guides' camp at. Trentliam, Wellington. Mr. and Mrs. Chambers, who have been guests at the "Bungalow" while in Rotorua, have returned to Takapuna. Major and Mrs. Miles and family, who have been spending a month's "holiday in Rotorua, have returned to Takapuna. Mrs. Ashton and Miss Rita Ashton have returned to Auckland after a visit to Rotorua. Mr. and ..Mrs. W. Culpan and family, who have been in Rotorua for the holidays, have returned to. Remuera. Mr. and Mrs. W. Bridle, of Waiuku, wijo have been visiting Rotorua, have left for Te Awamutu, and will then return to their home. Mr. and Mrs. J. D. Davys and Miss V. Davys, Pukuatua Street, have returned from a holiday spent in Wellington. Mrs. and Miss Burnside, of Kohimarama, have returned to tlieir home from a holiday in Rotorua.. Mr. and Mrs. Fotheringham and Mr. Bob Fotheringham, of Takapuna, who have been staying at "The Lodge," Hamurana for the • holidays, return to Auckland on Saturday.

A delightful surprise party was taken to the residence of Mrs. H. A. Goudie, Sophia Street, on.Wednesday, when the evening was devoted to bridge. Shaded Iceland poppies and blue and pink hydrangeas made effective decorations. Mrs. Goudie received the guests wearing a navy blue and gold georgette frock. The prizes were won by Mrs. F. C. Bunyard Ist, and Mrs. A. W. Shaw 2nd. The guests were: Mrs. W. W. P. Hall, Mrs. F. C. Bunyard, Mrs. A. W. Shaw, Miss Gunn, Miss J. McPherson, Miss K. Hall, Miss D. Corlett.

Mr. E. E. Vaile, of "Broadlands," with Mr. Carr, M.P., and Mrs. Carr, Mr. Kyle, M.P., and Kyle,' and the following members of Parliament:—The Hon. Wright, Mr. Barnard, Mr. Barclay, Mr. Munns, Mr. Mason, Mr. Hall, Mr. Massey, Mr. Dickie and Mr. Linklater were guests at Waiwera House, Rotorua, during the week. 1

The members of the Rotorua Croquet Club held another enjoyable progressive croquet tournament on Wednesday afternoon at the lawns, Government Gardens, when the president,.Mrs. J. Halkett, presented the prizes to the winners of the competitions, who were: Mrs. Illston, 38, Ist; Mrs. W. "Hill, 35, 2nd; Mrs. Notley, lowest score, • A grade. Mrs. Fielder Ist, Mrs. Thomsons 2nd, Mrs. Butler lowest score, B grade.

A scout concert was held at the. Parish Hal), kotortia, on Tuesday evening. The stage was arranged with a camp setting, and an excellent programme consisted of items given by Scout ,K. Hale;, pianoforte solos, "songs by Scout Alfie Steele; rope-throwing by Scout R. Clark; semaphore display and choruses by the scouts; fire display by the Morrinsville troop; recitations by Scouts K. Maler and A.-Dray; comic sketches by Scouts E. Montgomery and, J. Jones; playettes by\he Claudelands scouts; • ■
