BRUTAL ROBBERY.
MAN KNOCKED SENSELESS. SUSPECTS ARRESTED. CHASED DOWN HARBOUR. BLENHEIM, this day. A robbery with violence is alleged to have occurred in Picton on Christmas Day. J. C. Wiese, aged 63, a Picton resident, was accosted early in the afternoon on the foreshore by a woman who said she wanted to have a wash. Wiese took her to his home. Later a man appeared on the scene and savagely attacked Wiese, rendering him insensible. The sum of £9 was removed from his pocket. The man and woman decamped, borrowed a dinghy and started to row down the harbour. A constable, on becoming aware of the facts, gave chase, and captured the pair. They were brought before Justices and remanded till January 12.
