European Storm Causes 32 Deaths. HAVOC AMONG SHIPPING. r 1 1 LONDON, December 27. Fierce gales on the British coast and in south and eastern Europe have wrought havoc witli shipping. Already 32 deaths have been recorded, the majority of them in the wreck of the Danish steamer Asland, off Portugal. There were many gallant rescue? from distressed vessels at various point* >«n the British coast. There is also an unusually lo.ag, list of Christmas tragedies with more than 30 deaths, mostly due to motoring smashes A startling' accident occurred at r.ear Brighton, when 12 persons were injured through the collapse of iiig at a church overlooking a f oo<i>all g'ound. Many people had climbed :.n to this to get a view of the match. The scaffolding gave way and precipitated the spectators 40ft, amidst crashing timbers and masonry.
