THE TIKI'S XMAS CAKE.

Tai Ho and a friend were passing the wicked Tiki's house, when they smelled a lovely smell of baking.

|t was a very dangerous thing to do, but they slipped inside to see, and there was the loveliest cake. They were looking at it when the door shut with a bang.

They heard the wicked Tiki laugh as he turned the key. "Stay there till I am ready," ie said. However, they didn't; they got out through the chimney.

Tai Ho went up first, and a kingfisher, who was sitting on the roof, got a dreadful shock, for Tai Ho was as black as soot when he put his head out of the chimney.

In fact, they both were black. They stuffed the wicked Tiki's chimney with leaves, and went away very pleased.

The wicked Tiki wasn't so pleased when he found them gone, and when he lighted his fire he was driven* from the house by the dreadful smoke.
