THE POOR AND NEEDY.
CHRISTMAS CHEER,
Christmas'-.for the poor and need of Auckland will be brightened again this, year, by the'efforts of Sister Esther, who is well known in circles where such help is needed and given. Some 500 hampers have been prepared and will be sent out during-the coming, week. Their contents are chiefly necessities, such as tea, butter and sugar. Where help is intended for aged couples, such edibles as cake and marmalade are included; arid , where the hampers are for poor families, strict necessity is exceeded by the presence of packets of jellies and tins of pineapples. Very large quantities of food have been gathered for this distribution, and over half a ton. of sugar, 4501b of butter and 550 packets of tea are to be disposed 1 of.
