A.C.A. AFFAIRS,

HEP. MATCH ARRANGEMENTS.

BROADCASTING M.C.C. GAMES.

At the weekly meeting of the A.C.A. executive last night, Mr. E. E. Nalder presiding, Mr. H. Harwood (secondary schools) reported that the HeathcoteWilliams Shield match between Auckland Boys' Grammar School and Christchurch Boys' High School would be commenced next Monday on No. 2 wicket, Eden Park, at 10.30 a.m., and on Tuesday play would start at 9.30 a.m. Messrs. Duff and E. E. Nalder had been appointed umpires. The Christchurch boys would arrive in Auckland on Saturday evening.

It was decided to advise the Waikato Association that the committee could not see its way to arrange a Waikato-Auck-land match at Auckland on Christmas Day.

The names of Messrs. Duff, Somervell, Turton and Poulton were forwarded to the Canterbury Association as umpires available for the Auckland-Canterbury match at New Year. In connection with this match the point was raised that Canterbury had decided not to play its professional, Newman, in Plunket Shield games this season, and the propriety of Auckland to play Wensley against Canterbury was discussed. Mr. E. C. Beale mentioned that the non-appearance of Wensley would detract from public interest in the game. At this stage # a statement from a letter by Mr. D. Reese, president of the Canterbury Association, was read. Mr. Reese stated that his association had no objection to Auckland playing its coach. The matter was not further discussed. Permission was granted IYA to broadcast the M.C.C. matches in Auckland. Eden Club was granted permission to play a secondary school player next Saturday, on receipt of the headmaster's permission. It was decided to suspend club coaching from December 14 to January 9, in order that the coach might be available for coaching the rep. players; and club competition matches will be suspended from December 21 to January 11. The charge for admission of primary and secondary school pupils to Eden Park on rep. match days was fixed at sixpence. Transfer of J. Harding from Western United to City Club was declined, the former club disapproving. It was decided to warn players to take precautions against petty thieving at the various dressing-sheds during Saturday afternoons. The sub-committee set up to report on the Auckland touring team's forthcoming visit to the South Island recommended that the team's manager, Mr. E. C. Beale, be granted up to f25 in the event of a loss on the tour. The committee also recommended that in future tours the associations visited be asked to contribute to the cost.
