MORBXNSVII,I«E. The twenty-first anniversary of the Morrinsville Baptist Sunday School was celebrated on Sunday, when Dr. J. J. North, principal of the Baptist College, Auckland, was the preacher at all services. In the afternoon the scholars of Sunday schools of other denominations were present by invitation. TE AROHA. At the monthly meeting of the Hungahunga Drainage Board Mr. F. E. Hughes was re-elected chairman. It was decided to recommend the appointment of Mr. Harvey as representative of the Waiwera riding, such recommendation to be. forwarded to the Governor-General. It was resolved that* a supervisor of drainage works be appointed, at a salary of £.300 per annum. A letter was received from the board's solicitors stating the Minister of Lands had been asked to suspend dealing with the petition asking for a commission to consider amalgamation. The financial result of St. Mark's Ladies' Guild bazaar was very satisfactory, the sum of £230, which was practically the amount required, being received. The proceeds are to be devoted to improvements to the vicarage. The semi-finals in the bazaar tug of war contests resulted as follow : Martelli's Maramaru team beat Mangaiti, and Elstow defeated Te Aroha West. In the final Elstow was victorious over Manawaru. MATAMATA. The annual meeting of the Matamata branch of the Justices of the Peace Association was held on Saturday. Officers elected were:—President, Mr. .T. W. Simpson ; secretary, Mr. A. J. long; auditor, Mr. G. G. Griffiths. At the Matamata Druids' Lodge on Saturday the following officers were installed:—Arch Druid, Bro. Hitchcock; Vice-Arch, Bro. Shiers; 1.G., Bro. R. Williams; 0.G., Bro. C. Goodall; V.A.D.B.'s, Bros. J. Williams and Taylor; A.D.B.'s, Bros. Clarry and Tanner. The past secretary, Bro. C. M. Higgins, was presented with a gold watch, inscribed, as a token of appreciation of his services.
