CIVIC THEATRE.
OPENING WEEK.
MUSIC A FEATURE. Knowing that good music adds immeasurably to the value of a motion picture; Mr. Thomas O'Brien has taken every step to ensure that the opening programme at the Civic Theatre will be in keeping with a notable event. Auckland has already heard a great deal about Ted Henkel, musical director from the Forum Theatre, Hollywood, and Mr. Fred Scholl, master organist, also from the same theatre at Hollywood, and it is claimed that these two musicians are a host of entertainers in themselves. Mr. Henkel has got together a symphony orchestra of thirty players, and a stage band of twenty players. Rehearsals are in full swing, and the ballet, which has been strengthened by selected dancers, will be a great attraction. The grand organ, which rises spirally from the stage well, is being installed, the work Hearing completion. The Indian barge, which will also be lifted electrically from helow stage level on the touching of a button, is ready. In addition to the orchestra stage presentations will he a new type of entertainment at every performance. All seats for the opening night have been booked, and booking has now been opened for the first week. The opening picture is "The Three Live Ghosts," an all-talkie English comedy.
