Albert Falwasser, the well-known Eu ff by Union football player, has accepted an engagement with the Wigan Busby League Club in England, and will sail by the lonic from Auckland tomorrow. Early in the football season just passed, Falwasser was the subject of manv conflicting rumours in football circles, and after a denial had been made that he intended to play the League game it was announced that the Wigan Club had secured his services. Everything was fixed up for the trip, and Falwasser was farewelled by the Manuiau Eugby Club. The voting ilaori player went to Wellington, but on the eve of sailing decided for family reasons not to make the trip. There was much speculation on his return as to whether he would play the League code in Auckland, but he did not do so. Falwasser first came into prominence in the Hawke's Bay team when the Ranfurly Shield was held in that district. He later played in Taranaki, and was a member of the Maori team that toured England and France. On coming to Auckland he joined the Manukau Rugby Club and obtained a place in the Auckland rep. three-quarter line. He also played for the North Island against the South Island. This year he played one game for the Auckland B representatives. Over the past few years the new player for Wigan hag built up a big reputation as a clever wing three-quarter of the mercurial kind. Wigan is one of the leading English Eugby League Clubs, and in its ranks are several well-known New Zealand League players, including L. Brown, B. Davidson, L. Mason and Spillane. The latter, a young Christchurch player, decided to go Home a few months ago.
