PERTH'S NEW COURSE. That the name of Mr. James Brennan ■will be appropriately perpetuated is assured by the decision to call the new trotting course at Perth "Brennan Park." For over ten years Mr. James Brennan Las watched the conversion of marsh lands adjacent to the Western Australian cricket ground at the foot of .Hay Street into a modern racecourse. It was his own idea, and his proposals were at first laughed at and subsequently agreed to by those responsible with him. Hie ■work of directing the operations has been most strenuous. Known as "the father of trotting in Western Australia," he has been mainly instrumental in bringing the light harness form of horse racing to the high plane it occupies to-day. He hae aleo been responsible for the creation of a new beauty spot for the city of Perth and the provision of a magnificently appointed racecourse which has been the admiration of citizens, and has been ' most favourably commented upon by visitors from other States and from overseas. The new racecourse is almost completed, and so far advanced is the work that it will be used for racing ■before the end of this year. The centenary carnival meetings will be conducted there, and the last meeting on the old course is fixed for December 14 The cricket ground course has been used for racing under electric light for close on 15 years.
