THE OPENING DAY.

TO-MORROW'S PROGRAMME. PAIR FIELDS ENGAGED. THE CARD REVIEWED. The annual meeting of the Taumarunui Racing Club will open at Taumarunui tomorrow and conclude on Saturday. There are fair fields engaged, and with fine weather the racing should be interesting. The Opening Event. The programme will open with the Trial Plate, for which twenty-one are carded, but Antique, who dead-heated with Te Hoia at Te Eapa, will be ineligible. Even with this defection the event may have to be run in divisions. Biddy Comet was third in the Vauxhall Handicap at the Takapuna meeting on Monday, while Nassau Lady ran two good seconds at the same fixture. Princess Snow showed promise at the Waikato meeting, and Measurer, if he runs up to hie track work, should go well. Norval Tea showed form earlier in the spring, while Parfait Amour was second at the Tβ Kuiti fixture. Rose Willonyx and Section may prove the beet of the others. The best backed may be NASSAU LADY ■ MEASURER PARFAIT AMOUR. The Taringamotu Hack Partial Eclipse, who is top weight in the Taringamotu Hack Handicap, has not started, since August last, but last July won a double at the Gisborne meeting. Snow Prince showed galloping ability last season, winning one event and being placed on another occasion out of three starts. He has failed to get into the money this season. Tuku should-be improved by his recent racing, and Rose Lupin should be hard to beat if at her best, for 6he won as a two-year-old at Tβ Rapa season. . Tasty, Day Guide and Ruby Dawn may appeal most of the others. The favourite division may be PARTIAL.
