INTOXICATED MOTORIST'S WANDERINGS. HAMILTON- DRIVER CONVICTED. ' (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) ':'■ . HAMILTON, thik day. Approaching the Waikato Hospital Hill on the evening of November 9 last, a motor car left the road and ran for some distance along a bank, finally coming .to a halt at the bottom of the bank. The incident had a sequel in the Hamilton Magistrate's Court yesterday, when William Edward Morris, benzine pump fitter, of Hamilton, was found guilty of being intoxicated while in charge of a car and fined' £10.' * The marks.of the car showed'that it had travelled for 297 ft along a 4ft bank on the side of the road,- according to Constable Neil. '' ■ . ' . . A shop assistant,' Harry Price, who heard the crash, and was on the scene of the accident immediately. after it happened, said that Morris had asked him what had occurred. He considered that defendant was drunk.and hot in: a fit condition to drive a car. This evidence was supported by other witnesses. -In- denying that he .'.was;.intoxicated, Morris said that ■ he 'had I&ree drinks shortly.'after noon; none :or some hours befpre ; .the accident.
