SPORTS BODIES' LEASES. I . i ;■. I DISCUSSION AT HAMILTON. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) - L - HAMILTON, Wednesday. The* collecting of rates from sports todies'.holding leases, over domain lands was the subject of a lengthy discussion at a meeting of the Hamilton Domain Board; Thei town clerk, Mr. W. L. Waddell, 'said that although the council was not willing to remit the rates due by sports hodieSj he thought it would agree, to any request to lease land under the Hamilton Domain Amendment Act, 1922. three decisions were finally,' arrived at by the board:— (l)sTo recommend the GovernorGeneral to execute a lease to:the Hamilton Tennis Club for a-period Si seven ■yearsyt under* the- Hamilton Domain Amendment Act, as suggested. A rental was proposed of £50 a'year for the first three years, and £75 for the remaining four years. '' i2),tTo recommend that a somewhat similar lease, with a nominal rent of 1/ a year. $qt five .years and an increased rent for two- years, should be granted to the Hamilton Suburban' Lawn Tennis Association!,., ■ .. ; . (3)" To accept-a surrender of the present flease from the Hamilton Rugby Uniojj, and, subject to the approval of the Gbvernor-General, grant a ''new. lease for a,period of 21 years at the. rental of 15r per cent of the total takings by the T%ibn from all sources, with a fixed miniiritnn.
