GRAMMAR SCHOOL SOCIAL.

Under the auspices of the Grammar School Old Girls' Association, a function of particular interest was held at the Auckland Grammar School in Howe Street last evening, when the guests of honour were Miss Morrison (retiring headmistress of the Epsom Girls' Grammar School) and a former member of the staff of the Auckland Girls' Grammar School) and Miss F. McDonald (a retiring member of the staff of the latter school). There was ■ a good attendance of old pupils, and a very happy time was spent chatting over old school days. The supper room was beautifully decorated with blue larkspur and calliopsis, the school colours, and lines of blue and gold streamers made further effect. On arrival the guests were received by Miss K. Edgerley and Mrs. Morpeth, vice-presidents of the Old Girls' Association. In her speech of welcome, Miss Edgerlev paid high tribute to Miss Morrison and Miss McDonald, who had both given years of devoted service to the school. They had won the esteem of all those with whom they came into contact, and were being honoured that night because they themselves were both old girls of the school. On 'behalf of those present, Miss McDonald (president of the Old Girls' Association) presented Miss Morrison with two pictures and three books of engravings.
