BOY KILLED.

STRUCK BY MOTOR BUS. CROSSING ROAD ON CYCLE. SON OF MR. W. O. OARXAW GREAT SOUTH ROAD FATALITY.

Internal injuries, from which he died "within a few minutes, vvero received by William Munro Carlaw, aged. 9 years, when he was struck by a city-bound motor bus outside his home in Great South. Road about S.JiO this morning. The boy was the son of Mr. W. 0. Carlaw, of 204, Great South Road, Green Lane, a member of the office staff of the Northern Steamship Co., Ltd., and secretary of the New Zealand Rugby League. - s Just before going to school the boy was riding his brother's bicycle. He had gone along the road some distance,, and, . on'his return, was crossing the roadway to turn into the gate of his home when the bus, owned by the Passenger Transport Company, and driven by Mr. H. Lane, of Golf Road, Otahiui.i, struck him. It is not known whether the wheels of the bus passed over his body, but lie. was lying beside the rear wheel near the footpath when he was picked Up. ■ : . ' • The boy was. taken to the home of Dr.. John A. W. Roberton, of 213, Great South Road, and attended to, but he died before the hospital ambulance arrived. It is stated that the speed of the bus was not excessive/and that the fatality "was purely accidental. An inquest will he held.
