AUSTRIAN SITUATION.
Firmness And Tact Of Chancellor Praised. " TIMES" PAYS TRIBUTE. (British Official Wireless.) RUGBY, November 27. The "Times" publishes a leading article on the situation in Austria. _ It comments favourably on the judicious blend of firmness and tact with which the Chancellor, Herr Schoeber, has persuaded both the Heimwehr and the Socialist leaders to show a more conciliatory spirit in party negotiations for the ref6rm of the Constitution.
After reviewing the existing situation the "Times" emphasises the necessity for the disbandment of her private armies if Austria is to be spared from tragedy and her prestige abroad maintained.
The paper says it regards it as fortunate that the solution of this problem has been entrusted to an administrator who has shown that he possesses the quality which makes a statesman and who has won t the respect and confidence of European diplomats and financiers.
