HEN ROOST ROBBED.

PROWLER AT PAPATOETOE. OVER FORTY BIRDS STOLEN. Several residents of Papatoetoe report the activities of a prowler. Mr. G. Howlinson, of Wallace Road, states that between 40 and 50 pullets and cockerels were stolen from his place on Saturday night. He had left one of his . fowlhouses unlocked, and all of the birds had been taken. His other fowlhouses, which were alongside, were undisturbed.

Mr. Howlinson says he found his front gate open on the Sunday morning. A previous theft of 25 chickens was made from the same resident two years ago, and it is his opinion that the thief is someone who knows the run of the place. The fact that the birds were removed without undue commotion also indicates that the marauder understands the handling of poultry.
