THEIR BEST TIMES.

AUCKLAND GUP CANDIDATES. DILWORTH IS FAVOURITE. In looking up the records of the horses entered for the Auckland Trotting Cup it is interesting to note that of the 19 candidates only 13 have actually recorded in a race 4.28 or better. This means that six are giving away time to be in, but on the other hand have been handicapped at some time to go better than their best times. Already Dihvorth is being selected as the most likely to carry off the biggest end of the stake. Dilworth's best time officially is 4.26, recorded at the cup meeting at Addington, but she lost so much ground at the start of that race that it is generally agreed her time from post to post was nearer 4.20 than 4.26. If this is so, then the daughter of Travis Axworthy is entitled to be the favourite, because she will be handicapped on the limit, and it is difficult to select any liorse to beat her at this stage. Much, of course, may happen between now and December 27, on which date the Cup will be decided. It is always interesting to know the records of horses, and below will be found the best times to the credit of the 19 Cup candidates: — Silk Thread 4.31 2-5 Free Advice 4.30 4-o Concliff 4.29 4-5 Bonny Logan 4.29 --5 Glideaway 4.29 _-o The Abbey 4.1.8 4-o Torpedo Huon ........ 4.-7 --5 Dilworth * 4.26 Kohara 4.20 4-o Imprint '••• 4.25 3-5 Machine Gun 4.2 a --5 King Pointer 4.20 ±-5 Linkman 4.25 2-5 Gold Jacket 4.24 2-5 Petenvali 4.23 4-o Jack Potts 4.23 3-5 Prince Pointer 4.22 Padlock 4.21 _ Peter Bingen 4.18 4-0
