THE CONFUSION OF "EDENDALE." V (To the Editor.) - Your correspondent "New Zealancler" who wrote about the proposed change in Edendalc's ■lame is ignorant of the facts. The district of 'dendalc commenced in a small way in Pateron Street. The name belongs to the Edendale in the South Island, which was the first in the Dominion. Our Edendale was opened up by the trams, but the position of the district makes people uncertain about postal addresses there. Letters come at times addressed "Mount Albert." As the residents are not 011 the direct Mount Albert tram route, but are in the Mount Albert Borough, it is very confusing for all sorts of delivery. Then there is the confusion with the southern Edendale. Letters intended for residents in the Auckland Edendale have gone- South. Men working away from home have sent money to their wives in Auckland's Edendale and the letters have gone to the other place. We who live in Edendale wish to put an end to this confusion, so we ask for a new name that is not to be found elsewhere. "Sandringham" is suitable in meaning (it gi<r. nifies "sunny") and it is not already in the Post Office Directory. AN OLD EDENDALE RESIDENT.-
