Mr. W. J. Gow, formerly Chief Postmaster of Auckland, has been appointed second assistant secretary to the G.P.0., Wellington, a post which entails administrative work over the Dominion. Mr. Goav had been acting in that position during the absence of his chief from New .Zealand, and the appointment has now been confirmed.

Mr. J. Mitchell, of the literary staff of the "Oamaru Mail," a' few clays ago completed 68 years' continuous service in journalism, a record for Australia and New Zealand. Among his public activities Mr. Mitchell has completed 50 years as lion, treasurer of the Regimental Band, and 44 years with the school committees.
