SCHOOLBOYS' TOURNEY.
It was ''schools' day" at Carlaw Park n Saturday, when the Auckland Rugby jeague Primary Schools' Management lommittee staged its annual tournaient for the school teams and a number f special running events. The cool outh-westerly breeze favoured zestful lay, and the grounds were in first-class ondition. The attendance was poor, ut the presence of many schoolboy barackers demonstrated the rivalry and aterest taken in the attraction by the young bloods." The tournament, arranged in two ounds, on the knock-out principle, and inal, commenced sharp at 1.30. The earns played twenty minutes each way. leven school sides entered for the comietition, and spectators were treated to everal fine displays of League football, ["here were numerous entries in the unning races, held at intervals between ;he matches. Results of the football were:— First Round.—Newmarket 16, beat Onelunga Convent 0; Akarana 3, beat Richaond 0; Otahuhu 8, beat Devonport 0; ifangere, a bye. Second Round.—Newmarket 18, beat Otanihu 0; Mangere 9, beat Akarana S. Final. —Newmarket 6, beat Mangere 0. Running events were : — 100 Yards Champion ship.—Phillips (Manure) 1, Munro (Onehunga Convent) 2, .Vinkle (Onehunga) 3. Six starters. Won >y 3£ yards, two yards separating second ind third. 100 Yards Midget Championship (boys ist 71b and under). —Paton (Onehunga Convent) 1, Matthews (Mangere) 2, Baird (Newmarket) 3. Won by 2 J yards, inches leparating the other two. 100 Yards Relay Race. —Onehunga Conrent (G. Smith, Paton, Winkle, Munro) 1, Hangere (Rice, Matthews, McKenzie, ?hillips) 2, Newmarket (Smith, Murray, 3aird, Wheelhouse) 3. Devonport, Akarana, otahuhu and Richmond also started. The Convent team won easily, Mangere'e finelst just beating Newmarket for third place.
