IS HE TOO OLD?—Bobby Lewis, the doyen of Australian jockeys, who has been engaged to ride Phar Lap in the Melbourne Cup next Tuesday. Lewis has ridden the winner of the Cup on four occasions, the first victory as long ago as 1902. Lewis' engagement has caused surprise among many racing men, who consider that a man at his age cannot ride with his \ former vigour or ability. However, he was successful on Trivalve in the 1927 race.
