SLAUGHTERING RATES.

HAMILTON MEAT SUPPLY.

COUNCIL CONSIDERS COMPLAINTS

(By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.)

HAMILTON, this day.

The dissatisfaction of the Hamilton butchers with the existing arrangements for killing and delivering their meat at the Horotiu freezing works led to the Hamilton Borough Council calling a special meeting last night to hear evidence from all sides, and to consider an offer from the Northern Export Co. to kill at twenty per cent below the Horotiu charges and to return the offal to the butchers. The council later went into committee to consider the matter and resolved on the following recommendation: "That until such time as the council considers it expedient to establish its own abattoirs it declines to delegate its powers to any company other than the Auckland Farmers' Freezing Company. The committee records that it is not satisfied the butchers arc receiving all the consideration they should obtain, but that any complaints which can be remedied should be brought before the council in writing immediately the occasion arises."
