"SCIENCE AND TRUTH."

N.Z. INSTITUTE ADDRESSED.

"Science and Ultimate Truth" was the subject of a lecture by Canon H. K. Archdall, headmaster of King's College, in the University College last evening. The address was the last of a series given under the auspices of the New Zealand Institute. Professor H. W. Seagar presided over a large attendance. The speaker dealt with the relation of science, its sub-branches and religion, to truth, and he emphasised the importance, of studying science in conjunction With philosophy and religion to preserve the culture of truth from disunity. This was the first occasion in thirty years that a headmaster of a secondary school had addressed the institute, said Professor Seagar. The lecture had been most instructive, and it Avas to be hoped that the lecturer's name would be included in next year's syllabus.
