MANGAWARA RIVER BOARD.

REPAYMENT OF £2000 LOAN.

The Mangawara River Board met at Hamilton yesterday, Mr. L. R. W. Reid presiding. : In connection with further extensive improvements to the Mangawara River, a deputation was appointed to wait upon the chief drainage engineer, Auckland, with the object of. finalising plans and specifications of the area required by the Government. It was decided to exercise the sanction granted some time ago by the Local Government Loans Board to the raising of £2000, and to repay the short-term loan of that amount borrowed from the Public Works Department about two years ago. The clerk said the effect of this decision would be that instead of the loan being paid out of general rates within three years, repayment would extend tnjfr 20 years.
