MARRIED HIS TYPISTE.

74-YEAR-OLD MILLIONAIRE. LONDON, October 25. The Lancashire millionaire cotton millowner, William Birtwistle, aged 74, who is the possessor of more looms than anybody else in the world, was quietly married to his 20-vear-old auburnhaired typiste, -Miss Edith Stevenson. Mr. Birtwistle bought a special license, but kept the date of the wedding secret, even from his fiancee. He told her last night that he had arranged the ceremony for this morning. He came to the mill as usual and walked unnoticed to a neighbouring church where only the clergyman and the verger, the bride's parents and the bridesmaid, one of Mr. Birtwistle's daughters, witnessed the ceremony. They came straight to London and spent the afternoon visiting the motor show.
