THE COW.
FACTS FROM A CHILD'S ESSAY,
The following extracts are taken from an essay on "The Cow," written by a little girl of nine years of age. who goes to a village school. "The cow is a domestic animal and is covered all over with leather. Her tail, which hangs at the back, has a brush at the end of it, in order to shoo off the flies, or else they would fall into the milk! The head is in front, and has horns growing on each side and allows room for the mouth. Tho horns are used for fighting, and the mouth to roar with. "The cow's husband is called an ox, but to call a man an ox is not nice. . . . The cow lives on grass and potatoes, and buttercups. . . . When the food is pr o od she gives good milk, but when it thunders it goes sour. . . . Ihat s all I know."
