BOXING.

THE GRIFFITHS - TAYLOR MATCH,

TE AROHA, Tuesday.

The Te Aroha Boxing Association, has received the following report from Mr. R. Meale, of Auckland, who recently disqualified both Tommy Griffiths, of JDunediu, and Frank Taylor, of Auckland, in a match at Te Aroha: —

"Early in the second round I became suspicious that the men were- not-b ixing to the best of their ability. I watched the progress cf the bout very closely and a* the end of the fourth round I had iuf de up my mind that my earlier suspicion was well founded.

"At that stage it was apparent to me that there was some mutual understanding between the boxers in relation to the manner in which thev intended to conduct the contest. 1 there - .pon called the men l ogether early in tho fifth round and made known to them in no uncertain terms mv opinion of their tactics and warned them that if .a considerable imj provement was not shown from that | time on they would both be disqualified.

"On resumption their work did improve momentarily, but they quickly resumed their former tactics. 1 therefore disqualified both contestants in round seven." The Te Aroha Association has forwarded the report to the New Zealand Boxing Association.
