TRENTHAM JOTTINGS.

SILVEhMINE NOT GOING SOUTH

gray on concentrate in

N.Z. CUP.

HISTORIC TO Rl~>" AT carterton,

(Bv TflPgraph.—Special to 11 Star.*')

WELLINGTON, this day

Pink Coat was shipped south to-night. His lameness is in a bad place and the outlook is not bright. G Jones will take Commendation south to-morrow night. Roundelay has been eent back to Awapuni. The form of Silvermine at the Wellington meeting was not up to expectations. He returned to Hawera with Chief Link to-day, and will not make the trip to Riccarton. J. Brown will decide on the composition of his team for the Cup meeting on his return home. Knichtlike was right up "with the leadere and going well in the final event at Treiitham on Saturday, but at the false rail he collapsed in a stride and finished well back. It was quite evident that something happened to him, for this was far from being his form. After the race it was found that he lad either struck himself or been galloped on. Yesterday he had a large bump on a tendon and he lias been gent home. He will not be at Riccarton. Star Stranger will leave for the south on Friday night, and False Scent may accompany him. Prince Humphrey did not fulfil any of his engagements at the Wellington meeting. A rumour went round that lie had broken down, but this is not the case. He showed signs of soreness and there looked to be the chance of a breakdown if persevered with, so he has been sent home. J. T. Jamieson went back on Monday night and will return on ; Friday and go on to Riccarton with the balance of his team.

W. D. Moroney sent Banket back to Tauberenikau on Saturday night. The rest of his team is at present at Trentham and will go on to Riccarton.

H. Gray will ride Concentrate in the New Zealand Cup. This Kilbroney gelding: was just coming to his form when he* left Sydney, and he ran a good race on Monday in the Harcourt Cup. All going well, he should be one of the hard ones in the big two-mile race, for he; strips well, ha.s a winning weight, and is in good condition. Gray, in all probability, will take up his residence at Trent ham.

During the course of the Wellington races Mr. T. H. Lowry disposed of his three-year-old filly Clever to Mr. John Donald, the Westmere studmaster, and she has gone into-the stable of O. Cox at Hawera. Clever won three race 3as a two-year-old, and has been twice unplaced this season. Even is she does not make a success at racing she will be 1 a valuable brood mare at Westmere. Both her sire Psychology and dam Mist; Cute were imported from England by Mr. Lowry. It is understood that the price was 250gns.

F. Tilley's team goes on from Trentham to Riccarton this week. Laughing Prince's trouble is identical trifh that of Pink Coat.

Historic is going to Carterton with Footpad, Push and Roi de Val, and provided the track conditions are all right on Saturday he • can be regarded as a certain starter.
