LOCAL BODIES.
PAPAKURA TOWN BOARD. The Papakura Town Board met last evening, the chairman (Mr. Jas. McCall) presiding. Charge For Power .-The Auckland ivectric Power Board acceded to the request for having the street globes alight until 1 a.m.. The board now takes power from the Government plant at Arapuni, and the future charge will be £4 10/ per before PCr a " nUm ' instead if £4 15/ Landing of Sand at Clarkes Point.—A committee consisting of Messrs. McCall, Mciintee and Weir was set up to meet the earners interested in the carting of sand .to come to some arrangement regarding the construction of a highway from the beach to the metal road. . ater Supply.—The board entered into an agreement to instal a main for the conveyance of water to Mr. L. E. Balland's property at an estimated cost of £100. Cartage of Refuse.—The tender of Mr. A. Walker for th-e carting of refuse was accepted. For the purpose of cleaning up tiie town, a scheme has been propounded whereby areas have been arranged so that tins and refuse can be collected a,nd disposed of.
