TROUT FISHING.
BRIGHT PROSPECTS.
GOOD CATCHES IN WAIKATO.
FISH PLENTIFUL AT HORAIIORA
(By Telegraph,—Own Correspondent.)
HAMILTON, this day,
Tlia season for trout fishing in the Taupo and Rotorua districts will open next Friday. The prospects are said to be exceedingly bright.
Trout fishing has been in full swing in the Waikato during the past week and good catches have been reported from the upper reaches of the river between Horahora and Arapuni, where the fish are more plentiful than they have been for years. Good sport has been provided in the river at Horotiu. The Waipa and Puniu Rivers, also their tributaries in the Kawliia, Pirongia and To Awamutu districts, are not yet down to their summer levels and a big volume of water is still running in them. Tliey are not suitable for fly fishing. Better results should be obtainable on the Waihou and Piako streams and in the Tirau and Matamata areas.
