RUGBY FOOTBALL.
THE WAIHI SEASON.

A particularly successful football season was brought to a close by a dance, and the presentation cups, held under the auspices of the Waihi Rugby Union, in King's Hall last evening. Mr. S. H. Walmsley, chairman of the union, said that Waihi and Piako had tied for the Poland Memorial Cup, and in the play off another tie resulted. The cup would, therefore, be held this year conjointly by both unions. Presentations of cups won in representative matches under the auspices of the Thames Valley Union, were made by the Mayor as follows:—Pollard Memorial Cup—Senior representatives (E. Saunders, captain). Sharebroker's CupJunior representatives (W. Steel). McLean Cup—Third grade representatives (R. Spiers). Mr. D. G. Saunders, president of the Waihi Rugby Union, presented the local championship cups as follows:—Seniors Pilling Cup and badges bv W. Ellerircrton—Mataura Club (T. Agnew). Juniors —Mataura Club (A. Henry). Third grade—High School Club (MeConnelly).
