WESLEY COLLEGE WINNERS

MANY NEW RECORDS.

Seven new records were established, at the Wesley -Methodist College athletic sports at Paerata yesterday. There was a large attendance of parents, old boys and friends.

The best performance of the day was registered by M. Walters, who won the senior championship. In his heat in the 120 yds hurdles he lowered the previous record from 17 4-5s to 17s, while he ran the 220 yds open in 27 4-ss, one-fifth of a second faster than the previous record, and the 440 yds open in 63 4-ss, fourfifths of a second better than the record made last year. His fourth new record was in putting the shot 34ft lOin, eight •inches further than he did last year, when lie established the old record. Walters also equalled the fastest time for the 100 yds open by covering the distance in lis.

A new record was made for throwing the cricket ball by E. Kaho, who threw it 83yds 3in, an increase of over 2yds. W. Busby won the junior mile 36s under the old record, and J. Farland won the senior mile event in 5m 46 3-ss, sixteen seconds better than the previous record v performance. The junior championship was won by H. Luke. ' SENIOR EVENTS.
