"SANCTITY" OF PROPERTY.

DENOUNCED BY CLERGYMAN. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) HAMILTON, Monday. Ah outstanding sermon on "Christ's Call to Labour" was delivered by the Rev. Percy Paris, of St. Paul's Methodist Church, last night. He denounced the "sacred rights of property" and pleaded for the sanctity of human personality. It was 110 accident, said Mr. Paris, that Christianity was founded by a carpenter and a handful of other working men. If human personality was to be respected, employees must* not be regarded merely as "hands," and it was wrong to dismiss a worker for a mere whim. In England 2,000,000 children lived in slums, while the wealthy landowners drew millions in ground rents. He denounced this as "robbery." It was done in the name of the "sacred rights of property," but there was no sanctity about property. Property was made for man and there wns *00 much of the reverse teaching. 1L hoped for a fiveday week and a si-hour day. If some men were, to have shorter hours than others, the privilege. should surely go to those who had tn» roost arduous and , dangerous work.
