At Newcastle in the first day of the billiards match between Walter Lindruni (Australia) and Willie Smith, the closing scores, were:—Lindrum, in play, 2051; Smith, 1691. Smith mad.e breaks of 155, 83, and 82 in succession. In the match at Glasgow between Clark McConacliy (New Zealand) and the English champion, Joe Davis, the closing scores were: —McConacliy, 2730; Davis, 744. McConachy's best breaks were 716, 298 and GS4. Davis did breaks of 174 and 241.
