DECREASED REVENUE

The secretary of the Auckland Transport Board reporting at the meeting today, said that the receipts to date in t.ie current year were substantially less tnan fdr the corresponding period of last year and less than allowed for in the presen year's estimates, the period quoted being for 145 days to August 23, 1929, as compared with the same number of days for the previous year. Cash sales had decreased by £24,211, while concession ticket sales had increased by £1214 (including scholars tickets). This made a falling off in revenue of £22.997. Allowances had to he made for the Western bus service and Orakei Road service, which has been discontinued. On estimating the remainder of the year on a pro rata basis the deficit was estimated at £22,047. In order to balance receipts and expenditure he recommended that discount on concession tickets be reduced from 25 per cent of the value of the cash fare to 12J per cent, with the exception of the six section concession ticket. If adopted from October IS the increased receipts from concession tickets were estimated at £17,135.
