Thieves Burn Victim To
Death.
CLOTHES SET ALIGHT.
SYDNEY, October 27,
A terrible outrage was perpetrated at Surrey Hills last evening. Thieves attacked Thomas Ivory, a bricklayer, aged 44. They threw some inflammable liquid over his clothes and face and then applied a lighted match to it.
A woman discovered the man's plight and subdued the flames, which were burning his clothes, with a bucketful of water.
Mr. Ivory was terribly burned and his dying depositions were taken. Later he succumbed to his injuries. The victim's watch, chain, money and boots were stolen. No arrest has yet been made. ' ■ *

As the result of a by-election, it is practically certain that Maryborough electorate will return its first antiLabour member to the Queensland Assembly for fifteen years.
