TWO COMPANIONS SAVED.

(By Telegraph.—Press Association.)

DUNEDIN, this day,

Two boys who went fishing in a lagoon at Stirling on Saturday afternoon were drowned when a leaky, flatbottomed punt sank in 10ft of water. They were:—

Arthur Algie, aged 12 years. Douglas Hayward, aged 12 years. Stephen Algie, aged 15, and Archie Hanly, aged 12, were thrown clear of the punt. Stephen Algie was the, only member of the party who could swim, and he got Hanly ashore. Hayward's body was recovered, but efforts, to resuscitate him were unavailing.
