CROQUET.
AVONDALE CLUB.
The official opening of the Avondale Croquet Club took place on Saturday in ideal weather, and a large number of members and visitors were present. Mrs. J. E. Ellis, president, in a few remarks bid the visitors welcome, and played the first ball and declared the green, open for the season. Afternoon tea was served, and over a hundred friends, including bowlers and tennis players and their friends, sat down at the tables.
